Kuala Lumpur: BMI Country Risk and Industry Research expects Malaysia to maintain its lead as a hub for digital infrastructure investment in Southeast Asia, with the state of Johor remaining a prominent destination for data center investment driven by its strategic location.
The Fitch Solutions research unit said in a recent note that this will likely lead to an increase in industrial parks and data center developments in the region.
It noted that power procurement will remain the primary challenge for Southeast Asian data centers, prompting more companies to secure renewable energy deals and potentially sponsor their own power projects.
