Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Sports and Youth participated in the opening ceremony of the eighth edition of the “My Career-My Future 2026” programme, organised by the Qatar Career Development Center from August 2 to 6, 2026. The programme, which includes 350 male and female high school students, is part of national efforts to empower youth and enhance their awareness of educational and career paths, thus preparing them for the demands of the labour market and the future.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Assistant Undersecretary for Youth Affairs Ahmed Mohammed Al-Harami affirmed that the Ministry of Sports and Youth views this programme as part of a broader national project for human development.
This project aims to cultivate a generation aware of its capabilities, confident in its potential, able to make decisions, and prepared to adapt to future changes. He noted that the practical experiences and field visits included in the programme offer young people a genuine opportunity to discover their inclinations and learn about various specialisations and professional fields, thus helping them chart their future paths with confidence and clarity.
Al-Harami pointed out that career guidance does not begin with job selection, but rather with self-awareness. He emphasised that true investment in youth is based on character building, discovering abilities, developing skills, and fostering self-confidence, enabling young people to make informed and knowledgeable decisions about their future. The Assistant Undersecretary for Youth Affairs addressed the participants, urging them to make the most of all the activities and meetings included in the programme.
He said, “Over the coming days, you will encounter diverse experiences, meet people from different fields, and perhaps discover something new about yourselves that you didn’t know before. So make the most of every meeting, every visit, and every question, because sometimes small experiences can lead to the biggest decisions in our lives.”
The “My Career- My Future 2026” programme is one of the national initiatives aimed at promoting a culture of career guidance among high school students and giving them the opportunity to learn firsthand about different work environments. This will help them make more informed educational and career decisions, in line with the State of Qatar’s vision of investing in human capital and preparing generations capable of leading the future.
