While military air strikes and artillery deployment intensify against our brothers in the Gaza Strip, killing and injuring several people and causing huge destruction, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas cannot be found on the battlefield.
President Abbas is wandering between Cairo, Oman, Ramallah, Riyadh and today he is in Doha instead of standing by his citizens and troops, to encourage and form military plans against the Israeli enemy.
In Cairo, Abbas said the Palestinian government would not accept alternatives, parallels or amendments to the Egyptian initiative and that Egypt, headed by President Abdul Fattah Al Sisi, is a partner and not a just a mediator.
I condemned him in my previous article headlined — “Mahmoud Abbas is no longer valid for the leadership of the Palestinian affairs”.
Political leaderships that care for their citizens all over the world would rock the government and the parliament if one of these citizens got killed.
Armies would be dispatched and forces mobilised to get revenge for this citizen who died. This is exactly what western countries did after ISIS executed an American journalist.
I declare my condemnation of any assault on journalists, authors or civilians in general, regardless of their nationalities.
Mahmoud Abbas will not even move a muscle in reaction to the killing of his people every day. On the contrary, he just changes his suit twice every day.
Abbas hasn’t visited Gaza since 2006 and neither did his new Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah visit battlefronts in Gaza to check destruction, comfort the injured or pay their condolences to families of martyrs.
Tell us Arabs! What kind of government is that does not deploy its forces in battlefields? What president is that who changes his suit twice a day to fit his fancy ties? What a government and what a president!!
According to the media, Abbas came to Doha to meet the leadership of Hamas and discuss what is going on in the battlefield after the Egyptian and the Israeli leadership failed to make the resistance back down on its demands.
These demands call for the siege to be lifted, the right to have sea port and airport, releasing prisoners, banning assault on Gaza and the West Bank, reconstructing what Israel destroyed, as well as other important things. Abbas knows well that the leadership of Hamas, Al Jihad and others won’t make any concessions or back down.
Another opinion says that Mahmoud Abbas came to Doha to discuss ways of resuming the indirect talks with Israel over a long-term ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, then negotiate demands of the resistance, which is a strict Israeli demand that the resistance won’t accept.
However, the Qatari leadership stands by the demands of Palestinians, represented in the resistance in Gaza, which calls for the siege to be lifted once and for all and an end to the Israeli assault of Gaza.
Hamas and another Palestinian fighting faction walked out of Damascus talks because they refused the Syrian demand to stand with the government against the Syrian rebels. Both movements refused offers by the Syrian government. And here I am convinced that the Palestinian resistance won’t accept any pressures and neither will the Qatari leadership accept calling for something that won’t directly serve the interests of the Palestinians, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
My question to Mr Abbas is: If you are so convinced that “Egyptian coup” is a partner of yours and your futile political project that you signed in Oslo in 1993, and if you say that you won’t accept any other roles except for the Egyptian role and its failing initiative that failed after negotiations, why do you then look for other parties to assist you and push Hamas and other fighting factions to sign the document of surrender?
Mr Abbas, if you are honest and want to serve the interests of Palestinians, then you have to go back to Gaza today.
Abbas should stay with his citizens of resistance, in military uniform along with leaders of his government and call upon the whole world to intervene to save Palestinians instead of moving among the capitals of the world in vain.
May Allah make the Palestinian resistance in Gaza and the West Bank victorious, heal their wounds, ease their fears and let down whoever is plotting to harm them. I know that Allah is supremely competent.
