A livestock herder pulls a rope with other villagers as they rescue his cow after it accidently fell into the flooded Narmada Canal while grazing at Sonada village along the Dehgam-Ahmedabad highway, some 30km from Ahmedabad yesterday. Gujarat is experiencing delayed but heavy rains, with the meteorological department forecasting continued heavy precipitation in the region for several more days.
