Seoul: South Korea's Defense Ministry said on Monday that it has picked up signs that North Korea is launching a ballistic missile following the sixth nuclear test yesterday.
The ministry said at a meeting of the parliamentary defense committee that it was steadily monitoring signs of preparations for Pyongyang's launch of a ballistic missile.
It said that North Korea could launch an intercontinental ballistic missile as part of its offer to launch a missile capable of carrying nuclear weapons to the United States.
The ministry also said it would seek consultations with the United States on the deployment of U.S. military assets on the Korean peninsula, such as a nuclear aircraft carrier, strategic bombers and others, in response to North Korea's nuclear provocation.
North Korea announced that it had conducted the sixth nuclear test yesterday, claiming it had successfully tested a hydrogen bomb that could be loaded on an intercontinental ballistic missile.
