Doha: Doha College, one of the oldest international schools in Qatar, has proven its standing as a leading educational establishment in the country.
The college community is celebrating the joint success of the students who achieved excellent results in (i)GCSEs, Advances Subsidiary and Advanced Level examinations, opening up a future of endless opportunities and educational paths towards world-class universities.
For this cohort of examination students, context has never been more meaningful in interpreting their results. A global pandemic prevented in-person examinations from taking place in the preceding two years, alongside the dramatic change in the provision of education and interaction. It has been an extraordinary achievement that, this year, their results have surpassed their pre-pandemic performance.
Of the AS, A Level and BTEC examination results, 65.9% were in the A*-A band, 84.8% were A*-B, and 94.5% were A*-C, with an outstanding 100% pass rate. In (i)GCSEs, Doha College scored even higher, with 84.2% in the A*-A band, 95.9% in the A*-B and the 97.4% in the A*-C band.
Martin George, Principal of Doha College, said: “The superb A Level and (i)GSCE results achieved by our students are a vivid testament to their hard work and resilience in the face of so many unprecedented challenges over the past two years. These results also demonstrate the outstanding professionalism and dedication of the Doha College staff.”
Jerome Scafe, Doha College’s Head of Secondary, said: “It shouldn’t be overstated, the colossal impact that COVID-19 had on the education of our students, which brought an unprecedented disruption to their social norms and mental well-being. But in this first set of student-completed examinations since 2019, we have seen evidence of extraordinary perseverance, grit and skill from our community, enabling students to go into exams fully equipped, irrespective of external forces.”
