Doha, Qatar: In cooperation with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched a humanitarian project to dig 32 boreholes in different parts of Bangladesh in order to secure potable water for poor and vulnerable families who suffer from water scarcity and contamination.
Around 320 families, or 2,000 people, are expected to directly benefit from the new water wells, which will help mitigate their everyday struggle to find water and reduce the spread of waterborne diseases such as diarrhoea, typhoid, and arsenic poisoning.
This project is a much-needed response to the worsening challenges of water contamination and climate change impact in Bangladesh. Millions of people in rural and poor areas hardly find potable water or have to walk long distances to bring it.
