Cairo: Chairman of the Board of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi affirmed the great attention that the State of Qatar pays to the family and its stability, pointing to the Qatari national campaigns aimed at empowering and developing the family, and enhancing its effective role in society, such as the “Family is The Treasure of a Nation” campaign launched by the Ministry of Social Development and Family.
In a speech delivered on behalf of the international organizations participating in the closing session of the conference on ‘Family Challenges Amidst Major Transformations: A Fatwa-Based Approach to Protecting the Family, Envisioning its Future, and Preserving Identity’ yesterday.
Al Nuaimi highlighted that the family as a system is a central focus of attention in all educational decisions in Qatar, considering that this is not limited to educational institutions alone, but rather that the primary role of the educational process originates from a stable, conscious, and integrated family, to prepare children educationally, academically, and psychologically.
He indicated that the DICID’s participation in this important conference, both in its timing and subject matter, stems from its keenness, as an international civil institution concerned with religious dialogue, to actively contribute and seriously participate in all matters pertaining to the issues of the Islamic world, and to cooperate with official institutions in all Islamic and international countries, and to maintain the strong and fruitful cooperation between the DICID and the Egypt’s Dar Al Ifta, which always participates in the Doha Conference for Interfaith Dialogue.
He addressed the major and successive challenges facing the family in the contemporary world and its changes, which affect the family system and its cohesion, whether in terms of values or even the family identity itself.
Al Nuaimi also pointed out that everyone today lives in a world surrounded by great dangers that threaten the family system due to the impact of globalization, the information and technological revolution and its uncontrolled values, which represent a serious threat to the family entity.
This necessitates serious research and great attention to ways of preserving the cohesion of the family value system, especially the Muslim family, based on the principle of adhering to Islamic law and the values of the true Islamic religion, as this is the first way to preserve the Islamic self and identity.
He called for a firm and critical pause to examine what we accept from it so that we may adapt or change with it, and what we must reject while remaining steadfast in the values of our religion and not wavering from them.
He stressed that family issues are the common factor that can bring together the issues of societies with all their components, and that they are an influential and effective factor at all levels in all their social, economic and political fields.
