DOHA: People should not overeat during Eid Al Adha holidays, advised an expert. Muada Al Hajiri, food specialist at Primary Health Centre at West Bay, said that Eid is an occasion to welcome guests for lunch and dinner and people tend to overeat on the insistence of the host.
She said that people should have balance diet during the holidays and should avoid red meat and liver. If someone wants to have these items and it should be properly roasted. It is better not to take boiled red meat and liver because it increases lipid content in the body which is harmful.
People should also avoid soft drinks as they increase acidity in stomach. It is even better not to drink them, she stressed. People can reduce calorie intake by taking light breakfast, lunch and dinner and they should increase the consumption of salad. It is not good to sleep immediately after food, she said. She added that people should drink more water and should reduce intake of coffee and tea.
