Dar Al Sharq to celebrate silver jubilee

Doha: Dar Al Sharq, leading printing and publishing company in Qatar, is all set to mark its silver jubilee celebrations with a series of events that will take off tomorrow. Dar Al Sharq runs the Al Sharq daily, established in 1986, along with The Peninsula, which was launched on March 10, 1996. 

It also distributes and prints a number of international newspapers such as Al Sharq Al Awsat, The International Herald Tribune, Varthamanam, Rajdhani, Lankadeepa, Ngayon and Siyasat. As part of the celebrations, Al Sharq will organise a series of seminars on the Syrian crisis, for which the newspaper has invited delegates from Syria to present their accounts of daily life as well as the challenges faced under the current regime. The seminars will begin from tomorrow at the Doha Exhibition Centre.

In collaboration with the International Association for Public Relations, Gulf Chapter, the newspaper has organised workshops on public relations and media. One of these will be led by Dr Ibrahim Mustafa Al Qaradawi, the public relations consultant at World Health Organisation (WHO), on Tuesday at 5:30 pm. On the last day of the symposium, a media seminar will be held in collaboration with the Al Jazeera network, under the title ‘Traditional media and social media.. conflict or integration.’

Popular media expert and presenter on Al Jazeera of the show ‘Al Etejah Al Muakis’, Dr Faisal Al Qassim, will lead the conference on Wednesday at 5:30 pm. “This celebration is going to be an important event in which leading media personnel of the region will participate,” Jaber Al Harami, Editor in chief of Al Sharq said. 

The Dar Al Sharq silver jubilee celebrations come at the same time as the Media Expo 2012, the second media, advertising and printing technology exhibition, under the patronage of H E Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority.

The three-day exhibition, which begins tomorrow, will be held at the Doha Exhibition Centre from 10 am to 7pm daily. the peninsula
