AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa (pictured) will attend the AFC Cup final match between Air Force Club of Iraq and India's JSW Bengaluru FC at the Suheim bin Hamad Stadium (Qatar Sports Club) today.
Shaikh Salman hoped that the match will showcase high-level competition, bring excitement to Asian football fans, and reflect the abilities and determination of Asian clubs.
The AFC President stressed that the two teams deserved their places in the final following an impressive run of results throughout the campaign, adding that the two teams have the capabilities to produce a captivating finale, as they attempt to be the first clubs in their respective countries to win the title for the first time.
Shaikh Salman also noted that this year’s final carried additional importance with the new increase in prize money, as part of the AFC’s efforts to strengthen the competition.
The AFC President stressed that regardless of the winner, the biggest aspirations for this year’s final was to reflect Asian football’s principles of fair play and the passionate support for the game.
Shaikh Salman confirmed that all necessary preparations for the AFC Cup final had been finalised by the AFC, expressing his appreciation to the Qatar Football Association for their support in hosting the final in Doha, Qatar.
