DOHA: The law-enforcement agencies have arrested a man who they have alleged was impersonating as a policeman and conning innocent people. The suspect had a woman accomplice as well.
The suspect wore a military uniform but told his victims that he was a policeman. He would wave at passing cars asking them to stop.
He would then tell the men behind the steering wheels that their cars were suspect by public security agencies and so he would like to check their driver’s licenses and identity cards.
He would then ask a motorist to park his car on the side of the road. But as the motorist would take his ID card and driver’s license out of his wallet he would snatch the wallet and run away.
The Criminal Investigation Department said it received several complaints from the suspect’s victims and laid a trap and caught him.
He confessed to having committed several crimes. The suspect has been referred to prosecution for legal proceedings.
