Doha: Qatar has welcomed the French parliament vote recognising the state of Palestine.
In a statement yesterday, the Foreign Ministry expressed Qatar’s appreciation of the positive step towards ending the Israeli occupation and establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.
The ministry also expressed Qatar’s hope that the French vote would prompt other European countries to recognise the Palestinian state, support peace efforts, and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
