Doha: Qatar Scientific Club is participating in this year’s Darb Al Saai activities on the occasion of the National Day, which is celebrated on December 18 each year. The club will present a series of interactive scientific shows.

In a statement to QNA, Managing Director of the Qatar Scientific Club Sheikh Ali bin Salman Al Thani said that the Scientific Club, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, will offer this year a range of shows and experiences combining learning and fun, such as dry ice shows, air cannon, liquid nitrogen shows, and some special shows for the ignition triangle, in addition to cultural competitions of a scientific nature that have received interaction and approval from the public.

He explained that the club will also participate in the events accompanying the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, especially in the ‘D’reesha of Invention and Innovation’, which will be held under the supervision and organisation of the Qatar Foundation from December 11 to 17, as it will present a number of special events, such as scientific competitions, interactive scientific experiments, a meeting with an innovator, an exhibition of inventions of Muslim scholars, building World Cup stadiums, and building Islamic and engineering heritage landmarks.

It will also participate in the events accompanying the World Cup, which will be held in Kahramaa Awareness Park, starting from December 5 until the National Day.

Sheikh Ali bin Salman Al Thani added that the occasion of the National Day and its commemoration in Darb Al Saai or in various places in the country is a commemoration of the founding of the State of Qatar at the hands of the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, who founded the modern State of Qatar, stating that the importance of the National Day represents an opportunity to introduce the works of the founders who endured the hardships and paid a heavy price to achieve the unity of their nation and celebrate their anniversary.

It also emphasises the identity of the state and its history and embodies the ideals and hopes on which the state was built, in addition to promoting loyalty, solidarity, unity and pride in the Qatari national identity, he said.
