DOHA: The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani will open the 25th Doha International Book Fair on Wednesday at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).
The book fair will witness 432 publishing houses representing 29 countries in addition to 72 authorised companies of publishing houses.
Thirty publishing houses are participating for the first time at the fair which will see more than 12,000 Arabic titles and over 2,500 foreign titles.
Brazil will be the guest of honour at this year’s book fair which runs until January 17.
Celebrating its silver jubilee, the festival will have other events and activities such as an art exhibition, cultural and children activities.
Addressing a press conference yesterday, Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari said the fair will include Doha Cultural Festival comprising many activities including a play titled “Saqr Quraish.”
He said this edition will be exceptional and will be held for the first time at the QNCC which hosts many important events of international caliber.
