DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has closed down a  butchery in Al Wakra for selling Australian meat as a product from New Zealand.   The closure is for one month starting from January 1.
The Ministry said on its website that it had detected a wide range of violations of the consumer protection law during inspections conducted in December at shops in Al Wakra, Frij bin Mahmoud, Al Aziziyah and issued 39 warnings to the erring outlets.
The violations varied from operating shops without a licence or with an expired licence, using shops as place for accommodation, displaying goods outside the shops, failure to comply with the permitted work hours,  among others.
