DOHA: A group of young minded individuals have launched Qatar’s home grown mobile application — Evently. Incubated and supported by Digital Incubation Centre (DIC), Evently is a smartphone application that features all the events, conferences, exhibitions and other happenings in Qatar.
The application is available across all three platforms, iOS, Android and Blackberry 10.
“We are confident apps like Evently would play a major role in helping the global tourists and local residents keep abreast with the happenings in Qatar” said Ahmed Laiali, Head of DIC.
“At DIC, we are focused on supporting entrepreneurs, who dare to build businesses through solutions that would add value to the society and our nation.” he commented.
Guided by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, DIC identifies the local Tech startups and incubates them, providing various facilities and trainings required through a two year period
With more than 500 events including many global events happening in Qatar every year, Evently aims to be the go to destination for people to discover the events far in advance.
Events happening in Katara, Museums, MIA Park and other organisations like Doha Film and other venues will be listed in Evently.
Public lectures and events inside the Universities in Education city can also be discovered and shared through the application. Currently categorised as Arts & Culture, Community, Entertainment, Sports and Fitness, Conference and Music Events, Evently focuses on everything except the nightlife and food events.
Users will be able to access the details of the Events like Speakers and timings well in advance, eliminating the need for printed program guides.
The App users can also share the events directly through social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook and other direct messaging services like whatsapp.
“While Qatar is fast emerging as a family tourist destination with world class facilities and unique events, we strive to be a single source of information for all the events, conferences and happenings in the country. We are glad that our beta version was well received by the users and we are excited to launch our application.” said Nasser Al Naama, Head of Communications, Evently.
“We keep our strategies closely aligned to the country’s larger vision. We believe our product will add value and support the country’s efforts in positioning Qatar as an exceptional family tourist destination” concluded Al Naama.
Evently is currently available in English and will soon be released in Arabic too. The application is also planning to integrate a ticketing platform, providing an opportunity for users to purchase tickets conveniently from their smartphones.
