Qatar Olympic team gears up for twin challenges of Rio Olympics qualifiers and Under-23 Gulf Cup

Qatar Olympic team players training in Doha yesterday ahead of the Under-23 Gulf Cup. Six teams will participate in the  tournament which will be held from January 16 to 26 in Bahrain. Qatar are in Group A along with, Kuwait, and United Arab Emirates. Group B includes hosts Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Qatar play Kuwait in their first match on January 18. The Qatar Under-23 team is hoping to make it for the Rio Olympic Games in 2016. Qatar have played a number of friendlies in the past few months against teams like Brazil, Senegal, Macedonia, Algeria, Ghana, Sweden and Slovakia to build a competitive side for the upcoming Olympic qualifiers, which start in March this year.
