Beirut--At least 57 people, including 12 children, were killed Thursday in Syrian government air strikes and shelling on rebel areas around Damascus, a monitor said.
The assault on the Eastern Ghouta region came after rebels fired a barrage of more than 100 rockets at Damascus, killing 10 people, including a child, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
