Tulu Koota volunteers cleaned many beaches in the country as part of Tulukoota’s Qatar Environment Awareness Campaign.
Tulukoota undertook cleaning  drive at  Al Shamal Beach on January 23, Wakra Beach on January 24 and Umm Bab on January 30.
Navin, the nominated member for this campaign, briefed everyone, children in particular, what they should they should pick up.
People were split into batches of two and were given hand gloves for safety. With a garbage bag in hand they started collecting waste materials along a one-kilometre stretch of the beach.
Volunteers found lot of plastic bottles, nylon ropes, glass pieces, rusted iron and pipes, polythene bags and lot of abandoned materials from boats. Garbage bags were filled in no time and people had a hard time to bring them back to the base station.
Around 90 bags filled with garbage were collected and dumped in the nearby municipality garbage bin.
