Sparkle, the International Services arm of TIM Group, and Ooredoo Global Services, the wholesale arm of Ooredoo, yesterday announced that Ooredoo Tunisia, a subsidiary of Ooredoo Group has expanded its reach into Sparkle Sicily Hub, providing the company with a new Point of Presence in Europe and offering an enhanced data experience for consumers and businesses.

The new launch is the latest in a series of initiatives that have resulted from Sparkle and Ooredoo Global Services’ strategic agreement, which was signed in April 2016.

Ooredoo Tunisia’s new multiservice Point of Presence in Palermo will be the company’s main point of presence in Europe, providing enhanced coverage and increased diversity options to support Ooredoo’s customers’ business growth in the region.

Consumers and businesses will enjoy an enhanced data experience as a result of the reduced latency and shorter traffic routes for ISPs exchanging content locally through Ooredoo Tunisia’s Point of Presence. In addition, the new Sicily Hub Point of Presence broadens Ooredoo Tunisia’s international reach significantly by providing direct access to the 19 submarine cables ecosystem that lands in Sicily and that connects Europe to Africa, the Middle East, Asia and North America. Once connectivity is finalized and operational, other operations within Ooredoo Group will also be able to access the new Point of Presence, enhancing network services for their customers. “We are very happy of this new point of presence in Palermo’s Sicily Hub which operates as our main POP in Europe, improving our customers’ internet experience and providing us with direct access to new markets in many highly growing regions,” said Youssef El Masri, CEO of Ooredoo Tunisia.  “While the local highly skilled professional and technical support has helped us get online quickly and with little effort on our side,” he added.

Khalid Abdulla Al Mansouri, Acting CEO, Ooredoo Global Services, said: “Ooredoo Global Services continues to enhance its international network to better support voice, capacity and roaming traffic by leveraging its global partnerships".
