Doha: With the aim to raise the profile of millets, the students of MES Indian school attended an awareness session on millets, organised by the Indian Embassy and Indian Business and Professionals Council (Qatar) on February 2 in the school campus.
Jaffer Us Sadik, President of IBPC (Qatar) gave the speech followed by the presentation by Dr. Renitha Richard, a clinical dietician (Allevia Medical Centre) on the health of millets.
Other officials present on the occasion were K P Ashraf, Vice-President (IBPC), Anish George Mathew, Manager (IBPC) and Allen, Manager (Allevia Medical Center).
Mohammed Ilias, Principal officiating appreciated the IBPC team for their initiative to spread awareness on millets.
He addressed the gathering stressing the benefits of these “tiny grains” and urged them to include millets in their daily diets.
All the key functionaries of the school, teachers and students from grades 4, 7 and 8 were present on the occasion. The students clarified their doubts regarding the intake of millets. Overall, the awareness session on millets fulfilled the need to educate the younger generation on the health benefits of eating millets every day.
The teachers’ in charge of the event were Jency George (Overall In-charge, Campus Care Force), Sneha Ramachandran Pillai, Sibby Shaji John, Bitty Varghese, Rema Devi and Rajesh K S (Overall In-charge Scouts and Guides) and Fency Patrose (Incharge of Cubs).
