Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Press Center took part in the activities of the Tenth Field Training Camp on Disaster Management, organised by the Qatar Red Crescent Society under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and with the support of the Qatar Fund for Development.
The Center’s participation came through the nomination of four participants to join the field training program, as part of its commitment to supporting professional capacity building and enhancing the readiness of media professionals to deal with emergencies and crises in accordance with international best practices and standards.
The nominations included three participants through Qatar Media Corporation, representing Qatar Radio, Q37 Channel, and Qatar Television, in addition to the direct nomination of one participant from Yemeni journalists via the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate.
This reflects the Center’s orientation toward expanding access to specialised programmes, strengthening the exchange of professional expertise at the Arab level, and supporting media professionals and journalists with skills that meet the requirements of media coverage and professional responsibilities in emergency and humanitarian work environments.
This participation aligns with the Qatar Press Center’s approach to keeping pace with national initiatives that promote a culture of preparedness, reinforce awareness of the importance of specialized field training, and contribute to the development of journalists’ and media professionals’ skills.
Such efforts enhance their role in conveying accurate information during crises and support institutional efforts aimed at building cadres capable of dealing with challenges effectively and responsibly. The opening of the camp was attended by delegations of leaders and representatives of partner institutions and supporting entities, estimated at around 15 organisations, underscoring the breadth of national partnerships supporting preparedness and crisis management pathways and contributing to the sustainability of training and qualification programs in this vital field. The Disaster Management Camp is considered one of the most prominent preparedness and emergency response programs in Qatar and the region.
It attracts wide participation from volunteers and professionals in both government and non-government sectors from within Qatar and abroad.
It is also the only specialised training of its kind in Arabic in this field, supporting a culture of community preparedness and strengthening.
