DOHA: Even as Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) claims that its emergency department had treated the blast victims according to ‘international best practice’, Mohammed Iqbal Ismail, one of the victims, has been running from primary health centres to HMC for the past three days seeking follow-up treatment.
Mohammed told this paper yesterday that he did not remember the emergency department administering any kind of pain relief to him before his multiple cuts got stitched.
He said he was writhing in pain for five hours. He said it was only after producing his identification card that they tried to remove the foreign elements from his body.
As The Peninsula reported yesterday, Mohammed visited Madinath Khalifa primary health centre on Monday evening.
As the health centre denied treatment, he went to HMC, but was again rejected for want of mandatory health card.
“I almost broke down at the hospital. After listening to my story, a couple of Qatari lady officials came to my rescue.
“ heard them shouting to some officials inside the room. Soon I got the health card. But I was asked to visit a primary health centre,” Mohammed said, lying in his bed.
