DOHA: Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is leading the largest delegation of officials and representatives of government authorities, major hotels and top destination management companies to International Tourism Bourse (ITB) Berlin, the biggest European travel trade show.
The event from today to March 9 is expected to attract more than 10,000 exhibitors from 180 countries and more than 170,000 senior travel professionals, officials and international media to discover latest industry opinion and trends.
Led by QTA, the Qatar Pavilion will highlight the best of Qatar and position the country as the world’s new destination and a central hub in the region for business, leisure, culture, education and sport. The delegation will focus on buyer meetings and interacting with counterparts in the German and European tourism industry to raise interest in Qatar as a business and leisure travel destination.
Rashed Al Qurese, Marketing Director, QTA, said “This is a sophisticated market with discerning travellers seeking new and different vacation experiences. We are seeing a very encouraging growth in interest from the German market and are confident that Qatar has what it takes to meet and exceed expectations of visitors from this part of the world.”
QTA will represent and promote Qatar in the German and European market by focusing on buyers from the incentive, luxury travel and leisure sectors, including associations, conference organisers, incentive planners and large group travel organisers.
Known as a progressive business hub, Qatar is well positioned to take advantage of the MICE market in the Middle East, offering state-of-the-art venues with a harmonious blend of upscale leisure and cultural attractions.
“The tourism industry in Qatar has witnessed rapid growth and development, including the recent launch of National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030 which aims to position Qatar on the international tourism map as a world class hub with deep cultural roots. Our participation in the show will allow us to showcase the country’s ambitious tourism industry and unique offerings.”
With continental Europe a key export market for tourism, QTA is aiming at replicating its success with business and sports tourism in other fields such as leisure, urban (entertainment and shopping) and sun and beach tourism.
International events like ITB Berlin and the opening of international offices in UK and France, and the soon to open German office provide an ideal platform for Qatar to meet tourism decisionmakers from around the world and reach its target markets. The Peninsula
