Al Attiyah heads to Kuwait for MENA meet

DOHA: The President of Qatar Motor and Motor Cycle Federation (QMMF) and FIA Vice-President, Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah will reach Kuwait today to attend the FIA-MENA meeting starting this weekend.
The three-day meeting that will start tomorrow will be attended by the top officials of 20 countries along with FIA President Jean Todt.
Al Attiyah termed the participation of FIA president vital saying Todt’s presence will give ‘special importance’ to the meeting.  The FIA vice-president also appreciated Kuwait’s role in promotion of motor sports.
“Kuwait is considered as one of the most important nations as the country has a special culture to promote motor sports among youth as per the recently-introduced additional safety rules and regulations,” said Al Attiyah.  
About the upcoming meeting, he said the plans, strategies and last updates of the sport will be discussed during the next three days. “We will cooperate together to have more success in the field of motor sport in MENA region, which is considered the most important region after Europe in respect of the events organised”.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammad Al Khaled- Head of Circuits Commission at Basel Al Sabah said Kuwait fully support the top Al Attiyah as top FIA official.
“Kuwait has a supportive role to Nasser Al Attiyah to find a new philosophy of motor sport in MENA based on exchange of Arab and foreign experiences,” he said.
