DOHA: Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani has stressed the need to stimulate, support and encourage Qatari private sector to contribute effectively to the country’s economic boom.
The Prime Minister laid the emphasis on strengthening the country’s private sector during a meeting with members of Qatar Chamber (QC) and Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) yesterday.
The government’s decision to support the private sector is part of its commitment to implement the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s directives that instructed the government to support and strengthen private sector’s partnership to provide better services to citizens and residents.
The Prime Minister lauded the role of Qatari businessmen and their efforts in the development field and the growth of national economy, stressing in this regard the government’s pursuit of achieving a strong economy capable to grow and compete at the regional and international levels. He pointed out that the country will witness a lot of achievements in the coming days.
QNA reported that the Prime Minister was briefed on the latest developments in economic projects in the country and efforts undertaken to further develop them, in addition to a presentation for the Qatari private sector on a number of strategic projects and government initiatives. This will allow the private sector to prepare and take part in these projects in an attempt to ensure the application of the principle of equal opportunities and transparency in these projects as well as the continuous and permanent efforts of the government to coordinate between the public and private sectors.
For their part, the Qatari businessmen extended their thanks and appreciation to the Prime Minister on this opportunity, which allowed them to advance cooperation between the two sides, stressing that the unification of efforts would contribute effectively to the development and progress of the country.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Minister of Finance H E Ali Sherif Al Emadi and the Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani.
