There are many factors that prevent the development of the GCC, because there is a social ideology that is greater than any political one affecting the values and principles of the Council.
Any dispute between any two parties is an exception to the norm. This is clear when it comes to the Saudi-Qatari relationship as they have wisely managed to overcome temporary problems, which confirms that their ties transcend the issues of the day.
Both Saudi Arabia and Qatar have proved that politics does not take precedence over social values, ethics, principles and norms, as these two countries share the same blood. At the end of the day, politics is more or less an arrangement of human activities where it derives its strength from deep social foundations.
These values and principles define the general framework of their relationship, which in turn serves the common interests of these two countries.
I am taking the case of the Saudi-Qatari ties in the light of their weight in the GCC. Both states are highly effective in any Arab, Gulf or regional issue. They have strong social ties.
The two countries have become regional powers that have a strong say on international platforms, which makes them work together for the benefit of their people and the entire Arab, Islamic and Gulf region.
The proof of their strength is reflected in how they do not allow politics to affect their relations even in the worst circumstances, when they disagree on some issues.
It is necessary and important that these two countries stay in a state of harmony and agreement, which is for everyone’s benefit.
This has been truly proven in the past, and its fruits will be harvested in the coming days as we pass through a complicated political phase that requires continuous efforts from our leaders to overcome challenges, cross bridges and build a wise political framework that transcends any disputes.
These two countries have qualified skills that can be invested for the benefit of the whole region. They have huge influence that enables them to achieve successes for themselves and the entire region.
Nothing can disturb the relationship between these two countries after they overcame one of the hardest phases at the end of King Abdullah’s rule and the beginning of the new Custodian of the Holy Mosques’ rule.
They have the wisdom to understand new challenges with an open mind, which guarantees the security of these two countries.
