QNA

Doha: Qatar has expressed its aspiration that the Civil Society Forum of the 5th UN Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDC5) will represent an important opportunity to establish new partnerships, explore innovative and implementable solutions to key implementation areas of the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA) and allowing civil society organizations to develop plans and strategies that contribute to supporting the DPoA implementation.

This came in the speech of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi yesterday at the high-level opening of the Civil Society Forum. He said that such events, including the Civil Society Forum, which began Saturday and continues in the coming days, and its various panel discussions, represent an important and unique forum not only for discussion but also for announcing initiatives, innovative partnerships, and targeted measures to support the least developed countries (LDCs) in implementing an ambitious program of action - DPoA for 2022-2031.

His Excellency explained that the unanimous adoption of DPoA was an important step forward, which clearly demonstrated the priority given to LDCs issues and their advanced position on the global agenda. He stressed that LDC5, which starts today, would complete the positive momentum and emphasize the international community’s commitment and the urgent need for concerted efforts and cooperation based on multilateralism and partnerships to support the LDCs efforts and endeavours to implement DPoA, which defines their aspirations and priorities.
