Qatar Charity officials awarding a winner of one of the competitions organised to mark International Day of Orphans.
On the International Day of Orphans, QC organised a special ceremony for more than 300 orphans and their mothers in Sudan attended by partners, Humanitarian Aid Commissioner in Khartoum State and Consul of Qatar in Sudan.
The event included competitions, entertainment and cultural activities, in addition to the orphans speech, which was a poem talking about the mother’s role, written and read by one of the talented orphans, followed by the mothers’ speech. At the end of the ceremony, they honored the outstanding orphans and presented examples of their success stories.
The activity was a part of the series of activities that QC is carrying out this year for the benefit of its sponsored orphans in Sudan. The activities will cover all educational, recreational, health and psychological fields to provide comprehensive and integrated care and meet all the orphans’ needs.
Hussein Kermash, Director of QC’s office in Sudan, expressed his sincere thanks and deep appreciation to Qatari residents and donors for their interest in the orphans, stressing that QC regards the benefactors as a key partner in the achievement and the reward achieved through establishment of projects that serve this group.
Presiding over by one of the preachers, “Great Orphans” competition focused on the great figures in history who succeeded in making history dazzling the whole world despite the fact that they were orphans, and our Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him is absolutely is at the top of that list.
As for the “The Stage is Yours” part, the orphans showed their talents and creativity in the fields of chanting, reciting poetry, presentation, drawing, colouring and other fields. It indicated how much efforts QC has put in to develop those talents.
After recognising orphans’ talents in various fields, the top ten outstanding students were honoured, and their mothers were honoured as well through wearing scarfs having both the logo of QC and the noble verse “Kind to my mother” through which the orphans expressed their love and gratitude for their mothers’ leading role in achieving this success..
The success stories impressed the audience, where an orphan ? a sixth-grade student, managed to memorise holy Quran.
One of the orphans in field of media presented a success story of a Sudanese family and conducted a dialogue with children of that family who were a model of success after being sponsored by QC who enabled them to be distinguished in their study and get the top ranks at school. Moreover, three of them have become heroes in gymnastics, and won gold medals in several championship and showed their skills in gymnastics before those who were attending the ceremony.
At the concluding ceremony, orphans’ mothers expressed gratitude to benefactors of Qatar and QC for their efforts to make the orphans happy, especially as QC is interested in all the events related to them and organises various activities for their welfare.
