Qatari and British business communities were urged to take advantage of the business and investment opportunities between the two countries, said a top official of the Qatar-British Business Forum (QBBF) noted Emad Turkman MBE, Chairman of QBBF yesterday at an event.
Emad was speaking at a luncheon organised by the QBBF recently where a panel of guest speakers, including British Ambassador to Qatar Ajay Sharma, addressed QBBF members. Emad said: “Now the hard work of organizing such a successful conference has been done, this is time for both the Qatari and British business communities to take advantage of the opportunities presented during the conference and take the trade relationship between the two countries to the highest level.”
Following the successful Qatar-UK Business and Investment Forum, held recently in London and Birmingham, the panelists presented the key messages of the conference to QBBF members and discussed the business opportunities which may arise from the close relationship the UK and Qatar have fostered.
The panel of other guest speakers at the event included CEO of Rumaillah Group; Ajay Sharma; and Simon Kendall, Director of International Trade at the British Embassy in Doha. The British Embassy’s DIT (Department of International Trade) team were also present, along with QBBF members including business leaders from British businesses across the State of Qatar.
The QBBF’s monthly luncheon event provides its members with a perfect networking opportunity whilst guest speakers provide the audience with their own personal experiences of undertaking business in the country. It is this collaboration of networking and sharing of information which members find particularly useful. Last year, QBBF held two very successful industry specific panel discussions: one focused on Oil and Gas and the other on Education in Qatar. Following these events QBBF decided that a similar event would be the ideal platform for sharing information with business leaders who didn’t attend the Business and Investment Forum.
The British envoy said: “The QBBF does excellent work promoting UK companies and the trade and investment relationship between our two countries. This event was an ideal opportunity to share the success of the Business and Investment Forum with QBBF members and I am delighted to have been able to attend. I hope that British companies will take advantage of the positive momentum generated by the Forum to strengthen their business here in Qatar and deliver tangible results."
Founded in 1992, the QBBF provides a platform for members to establish useful contacts through a variety of events with the aim to promote bilateral trade between Qatar and the UK.
