Doha, Qatar: Istanbul's governor has announced a temporary ban on shisha smoking in public places, including beaches and parks across the city.

The decision, according to Governor Davüt Gul, is being implemented as a preventive measure to reduce the risk of forest fires and other potential threats. It also aims to safeguard the city's natural landscapes.

In a tweet, the governor said: "Smoking shishas will be strictly prohibited in various locations, including beaches, forests, recreational areas and parks throughout Istanbul."

He added that licensed shisha lounges operating outside the city's designated areas will not be affected by the ban.

By prohibiting the use of shisha in places such as beaches and forests, the governorate hopes to prevent the emergence of negative environmental impacts and preserve the tranquility of public spaces.
