DOHA: A photography exhibition of award-winning Palestinian photographer Ali Nuruddeen will open on Thursday at the Qatar Photographic Society (QPS) headquarters in Katara.
Katara is organising the photo expo, which will run until September 8, with the QPS, the Palestinian Embassy in Qatar and Qatar Charity.
Through this expo, Katara aims to highlight the sufferings of the people in Gaza and convey the humanitarian message to various centres and organisations in and outside Qatar about their plight.
The fifty photos which will be displayed at the expo reflect the actual life of people in Gaza and their resistance to the siege and how this affects the infrastructure and daily life of Palestinians. Through these photos people will see how Palestinians endure having been denied basic rights to live, while they look forward with confidence toward a better future despite their hardships.
QPS President Ahmad Al Khulaifi said, “The photos which will be displayed at the expo reflect the life of people in Gaza Strip, how they show determination despite the destruction and the siege imposed since 2007.”
Meanwhile, Katara has announced it is going to organize a festival of solidarity in support of Gaza on Friday.
The festival will include a number of cultural events, art shows and musical performances which will see the participation of singers, artistes and poets. The festival’s events will start at 9pm and end at 11pm and will be organised in collaboration with Qatar Red Crescent (QRC), Qatar TV, Al Rayyan TV and Qmedia.
Katara said the revenue of this festival will be donated to the people in Gaza who are facing the worst humanitarian disaster.
