ISLAMABAD: As many 271 Pakistanis who had completed their sentences on minor charges in jails in different countries have been released after payment of Rs16m ($155,339).
The Foreign Office provided the information during a recent meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control. Seventy-seven prisoners, who had completed their sentences but were not being released due to non-payment of fines, were freed from Dubai during May and June 2013.
