MANILA: A Philippine diplomat said that Filipinos who have good command of the English language are valued hires in Indonesia as teachers. Rosario Aguinaldo, Ambassador to the Philippines’ neighbouring archipelago, said that new international schools being set up in Indonesia are hiring Filipinos to help them improve in English.
“Since Filipinos are fluent in English, many schools in Indonesia hired Filipino school teachers,” Aguinaldo said.
She said Indonesia schools are not only looking for English teachers, but also English-speaking math and science instructors.
“I can safely say that Indonesia has many Filipino teachers, even in Bali, far-flung Medan and Surabaya. It’s not just Jakarta who has many Filipino teachers,” the ambassador said.
Besides Filipinos’ accomplishments in education abroad, Aguinaldo said they have also made a mark in Indonesia’s corporate world specifically as auditors, accountants and consultants.
She said around 10,000 Filipinos in Indonesia work as financial consultants, hospital directors, entrepreneurs, and general managers of hotels. The Philippine star
