ZAMBOANGA CITY: Senator Antonio Trillanes IV believes that there is enough evidence to pin Vice President Jejomar Binay for the allegedly anomalous Makati parking building project.
“In the case of the Vice President we can consider the case closed. That is my view, based on documentary and testimonial evidences submitted, said Trillanes, who was in the city on Friday, referring to the testimonies presented during the Senate blue ribbon committee hearings on the parking building.
Trillanes said that the committee will transfer all evidence and testimonies to government lawyers so they can pursue the case against Binay and his son, Makati Mayor Junjun Binay, who are both facing corruption charges before the Office of the Ombudsman.
Binay’s camp in a statement earlier described the allegations against the vice president and members of his families as mere political propaganda to discredit him and thwart his plan to run for president in 2016.
“These are indications that he is backing out already, he is already hiding, he is now being hit. Whatever it is, he can no longer stop the investigation because he can no longer explain (his unexplained wealth). Trillanes added.
Meanwhile, as the Makati parking building probe is in aid of legislation, Trillanes said the committee will recommend the crafting of a bill that will propose the mandatory video recording of the bidding process for government projects.
