DOHA: Twenty-five Qatar University (QU) College of Pharmacy (QU/CPH) first year students recited the Oath of a Pharmacist and signed the pledge of professionalism at the annual symbolic White Coat Ceremony held here.
Over 300 attendees, including top academia and key officials witnessed the College of Pharmacy's seventh ceremony, Qatar University said Tuesday.
QU Vice-President and Chief Academic Officer Dr Mazen O Hasna; Supreme Council of Heath Assistant Secretary General for Policy Affairs Dr Faleh Hussein Ali; Heart Hospital Associate Director Dr Khalid Al Siyabi; Primary Health Care Corporation Pharmacy Director Dr Mahmoud Al Mahmoud.
As well as representatives from Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Sidra Medical and Research Center attended the event.
Congratulating the students, College of Pharmacy Dean Dr Ayman El Kadi said, "This event marks an important rite of passage for our students into the pharmacy profession.
"These students have accepted this tremendous responsibility witnessed by their families, peers and pharmacy role models."
"Knowledge and skills, commitment and services, integrity and accountability, pride in the profession and leadership are critical components to their lifelong pledge."
Al Khor Hospital Pharmacy Director Dr Kawther Abd El Nabi said, "The National Health Strategy and National Vision have expanded the role of a pharmacist, and as a core member of the health care team, the pharmacist's role requires professionalism, dedication to improving patient care and continuously seeking new knowledge.
"I am pleased to see these bright future pharmacists join our profession."
