DOHA: The National Health Insurance Company (NHIC) has clarified that dermatological diseases such as acne and vitiligo are covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme — Seha — as long as the treatment is not cosmetic in nature.
Acne is a common skin disease that causes pimples. Vitiligo causes the skin to lose colour resulting in patches of lighter skin.
Citizens, who are beneficiaries of Seha in the current phase, can seek treatment for such conditions from any of the providers included in the Seha network, NHIC said yesterday.
Doctors will draw up a plan for the member and submit it to Seha to maintain a structured course of action for treatment.
Cases that are not clear whether medical or cosmetic will be introduced to a committee of experts from the public and private health sectors to provide opinion.
Members have the right to inquire about their cases with NHIC at their convenience.
Information and updates on the scheme are available at the Seha website www.seha.qa and on social media at facebook.com/SehaQatar and twitter.com/SehaQatar.
Members can also call the Seha call centre on 4020 8444, or visit the customer care centre on the sixth floor of Amwal. The Peninsula
