DOHA: A criminal court has sentenced an Asian to 15 years in jail for stabbing a person to death in a burglary case in which a steel vault with some cash was stolen from a company’s office.
The court sentenced five accomplices of the above convict to five years in prison for the burglary.
A sixth accomplice was sentenced to six months in jail for hiding the knife used in the stabbing. The knife was later recovered from him.
The court ordered that all the seven convicts be deported after they have served their sentences, Al Sharq reported.
The convicts first entered a company’s office and tried to make away with a steel vault. However, they had to flee empty-handed after some noise they had made alerted a security guard. They then entered another company’s office and stole a steel vault.
As they were carrying the vault away, a group of four men saw them. The four men confronted the burglars in a bid to snatch the vault from them. A fight ensued and one of them was stabbed and he later succumbed to his injuries.
The vault contained QR17,000 in cash and some passports and documents. The company that owned the vault told the police its loss amounted to QR26,000.
