DOHA: Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation, Kahramaa, is set to organise its first ‘Energy and Water Efficiency Conference 2013’ in partnership with MEED.
The three-day event will be held here from December 8-10, said a statement yesterday.
The conference will be inaugurated by Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, the President of Kahramaa. And it will be attended by energy and water efficiency experts, concerned corporations, authorities, and research institutes.
The event will showcase the action Qatar is taking to adopt cutting-edge technologies and managerial practices to ensure that every project delivered as part of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the preparations for the FIFA Qatar 2022 World Cup Finals will reach the highest energy and water efficiency standards.
Kahramaa started ‘Tarsheed’ (National Energy Conservation Campaign) for efficient use of electricity and water under the patronage of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
It has set a target to reduce the per capita electricity and water consumption by 20 and 35 percent, respectively by 2017. Through the implementation of these defined strategies for energy and water conservation initiatives, Qatar aspires to be a role model for others.
