Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has been granted FINA Gold Medal, the highest international medal in swimming, by International Swimming Federation, for his role and Qatar’s support to water sports in general and swimming in particular.
On behalf of the Emir, H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani received the medal from FINA President Julio Maglione on the sidelines of the opening of the 12th edition of World Swimming Championships 2014 in the short course of 25 meters, hosted by Doha until December 7 at Hamad International Complex for Water Sports. Over 1,000 swimmers from 176 nations are taking part. QNA
