DOHA: Qatar Red Crescent’s (QRC) Al Khor branch recently participated in several social and cultural events and organised a first aid lecture for scouts under the ‘I Am a Paramedic’ programme.
The public training programme sponsored by Ras Laffan Community Outreach Programme (COP) during the academic year targets 4,500 students in 19 schools of Al Shamal, as well as the teachers, administrative staff, and parents through the students themselves.
In the Cultural Convoy, a two-day event organised by the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Heritage at the Al Khor Cultural Center and involving cultural, artistic, and folkloric activities, the branch held a special corner to introduce the public to QRC’s mission and role in the service of the Qatari and other societies, distribute health education printouts, and conduct blood sugar and pressure tests for free for the 600 visitors.
The branch also co-organised the Safe Journey exhibit at the Al Thakhira Youth Center, in partnership with the Community Policing Department, the Traffic Department, and @@@. The exhibit lasted for two days, one for men and one for women, with a special focus on youths aged 14 to 21, to educate them on traffic rules and road safety procedures.
A QRC corner was established to communicate with the public, inform them of the basics of first aid that must be offered for injured people and safety guidelines. QRC ambulance vehicles and medical workers were deployed to medically cover the event location and perform medical checks for free for the attendance, whose number exceeded 500 people. The Peninsula
