World no. 1 men’s doubles team Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares spent over an hour this week with more than 20 children from the ExxonMobil Qatar community during a tennis clinic in Doha. The clinic was held in conjunction with the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2017 tournament which is no in progress.
Every year, Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) and ExxonMobil Qatar organize the clinics to promote a love for tennis and to help children develop an interest in physical activities, as part of leading a healthy lifestyle.
This is the fourth year the clinics have been offered to children as part of the broader tournament. In a fun and informal session, Murray and Soares  helped the children on their technique, movement, balance, speed and coordination.
"Sports not only promote better mental and physical health; they also provide an opportunity to build valuable life skills such as self-confidence, commitment and teamwork,” said Alistair Routledge, President and General Manager for ExxonMobil Qatar.
“We believe it is critical to cultivate these skills in Qatar’s children at a young age, so that they may go on to make positive and lasting contributions to Qatar’s workforce and future knowledge-based society,” he said
ExxonMobil Qatar has been the title sponsor of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open for 23 years.
Through a variety of partnerships with local organizations such as QTF, ExxonMobil Qatar invests in programs that support education, professional workforce development, and active and healthy lifestyles within Qatar’s community.
These efforts will help build a healthy, productive workforce that will sustain Qatar’s future, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
