Pakistani province Punjab’s top civil and military leadership has decided to intensify the ongoing operations under the National Action Plan against terrorism to root out extremism, sectarianism and fanaticism.
Yesterday, the provincial apex committee met for about four hours and resolved to continue indiscriminate crackdowns against those providing financial assistance to terrorists and their facilitators while closing down their all sources of income. The civil and military leaders also decided to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against those involved in publication and distribution of hate literature while strictly ensuring the ban against provocative speeches under the amplifier act.
A statement issued by the CM House said matters regarding the spread of violence-inciting material were discussed in detail during the apex committee meeting. Progress on steps taken to eliminate extremism in the province under NAP was also reviewed. The meeting was presided over by Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif.
