DOHA: University of Calgary Qatar (UCQ) has seen an increase in enrolment with the start of its winter semester. 328 students are now in various stages of working studying for a Bachelor of Nursing degree. 58 are newcomers to the Winter Semester, including five Qataris. There are nine new male students bringing the total male population to 24.

“I heard that this university has a very good reputation for its nursing programme. I look forward to getting my degree and being able to help people who are sick, lonely and in need of care,” explained Amani Abda, one of the new students. “We are thrilled with the constant rise in our student numbers. It is becoming clear that there is a growing interest in the nursing profession in Qatar. We are honored that 328 people have put their trust in our program and the wonderful opportunities it will create for them,” expressed Dean and CEO Dr Kim Critchley.

In addition to the undergraduates, nine students are studying for their Master of Nursing Degree. Nahrida Nazir, who was amongst the first batch of UCQ Bachelor of Nursing graduates, is now earning her Masters.
