Doha: The Cabinet yesterday endorsed a proposal by the Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning to amend some provisions of the Cabinet decision No. 34 of 2001 forming an ad-hoc coordination and follow-up panel as stipulated in the law for restructuring the Central Municipal Council (CMC).
The panel coordinates with the CMC, ministries, authorities and public institutions.
The weekly session, chaired by the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani at the Emiri Diwan, also approved a draft decision of the Minister of Public Health amending the second schedule annexed to law No. 19 of 1993 on the handling of substances with psychological effect; and a draft decision of the Minister of Finance to establish a customs department at Hamad International Airport.
The Director General of the Customs General Department will set its functions and working time.
The Cabinet then approved Qatar’s hosting of the second summit of International Organisation for Public Transport and events in the Middle East and North Africa region in Doha this November.
UITP has 1,300 member companies giving access to over 14,000 contacts from 92 countries. The members are public transport authorities and operators, decision-makers, research institutes and the public transport supply and service industry.
The Cabinet took decisions after reviewing a letter from the Minister of Justice on the first annual report of the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law; and the 12th report on the outcome of National Anti-Terrorism Committee activities from April 1 to September 30 last year. The committee prepared Qatar’s report for the UN General Assembly on measures to fight international terrorism.
The session also approved a draft agreement on economic, trading and technical cooperation between Qatar and Kyrgyzstan; and two draft agreements between the Doha Municipality and Brasilia. QNA
