DOHA: With a focus on raising awareness about health issues, the Wheels ‘n’ Heels 2014 will be a platform to highlight the seriousness of diabetes through the ‘Action on Diabetes’ village.
This is the second year ‘Action Diabetes’ features at the event in partnership with Maersk Oil Qatar, the flagship sponsor of the seventh Wheels ‘n’ Heels organised by Reach Out To Asia (Rota).
“Diabetes affects millions of people and has a profound impact on families mainly because of the lifestyle we are leading. If we can improve that with healthy diet and regular exercise, we would be significantly lowering the chances of developing the condition” said Ahmed Al Kuwari, Technical Liaison Manager, Maersk Oil Qatar.
“The company is proud to team up with Rota to raise awareness about this illness during Wheels ‘n’ Heels. With a healthy diet and exercise, we can tackle type 2 diabetes.”
‘Action on Diabetes’ village aims at raising awareness about the prevention and management of diabetes and promoting healthy lifestyle choices.
It proved successful, attracting more than 5,000 people during Wheels ‘n’ Heels last year through partnership between Supreme Council of Health, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Healthcare Corporation, Qatar Diabetes Association, Maersk Oil Qatar and Novo Nordisk, a world leader in diabetes care.

Wheels ‘n’ Heels 2014 will be held tomorrow from 2pm to 10pm at Museum of Islamic Art Park. Parking area will be available at Qatar Sports Club and the Ministry of Interior. There will be shuttle buses.
