Pakistanis mark Kashmir Solidarity Day

DOHA: Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed at the Embassy of Pakistan yesterday to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
The event, attended by a large number of Pakistanis from all walks of life, commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. A number of speakers, mostly of Kashmiri origin, addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the day. Pakistani Ambassador Shahzad Ahmad read out messages from the president and prime minister of Pakistan for the occasion.
In his address, the ambassador reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering political, moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris. He said resolution of the Kashmir dispute was key to ensuring peace and security in South Asia. Referring to the various UN Security Council resolutions on the Kashmir issue, the ambassador called upon the international community to play its due role in the resolution of the issue. THE PENINSULA
