Students parade during the BPS sports day.
Doha: Birla Public School’s Annual Sports Day was celebrated at Al Arabi stadium on February 4. After the prayer and national anthems, the Head Girl Ishita Srikant Somayaji welcomed all the members of the assembly.
While addressing the audience, chief guest Mariam Mamdouh Farid appreciated the efforts of the parents and school staff for being the root support for sports enthusiasts. She also declared the sports meet open. The finals of all events were conducted. The winners were felicitated by the dignitaries and awarded with medals and certificates.
Addressing the assembly of students, and teaching and non-teaching staff, Chairman Gope Shahani remarked, “Our chief guest Mariam Mamdouh Farid is a living example of how sports can help one break all barriers. Nothing is impossible for a true sports person. I want to congratulate all those students who achieved victory in the heat and those who lost too, because they showed hard work on the field and gave tough competition to others.”
Chindhu Rappai, Management Representative, graced the occasion and awarded the winners. Harish Sanduja, Academic Director and Principal, highlighted the benefits of physical activities in life and expounded how experience on the field prepares everyone for life’s challenges.
The program included a symbolic run with the Lighted Torch by the sports captain, house-wise display and march-past by the four houses of the school.
