PM gets calls from Libya and Yemen

Doha: Prime Minister and Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani and Libya’s Prime Minister Ali Zaidan discussed bilateral ties and issues of common interest over the phone yesterday. The Prime Minister received a telephone call from Yemeni Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa.

Amour to open Francophone Cinema Week

 
DOHA: Amour, this year’s Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Language Film, is set to open the Francophone Cinema Week tomorrow night at the Katara Drama Theatre.
The screening marks the Qatar premiere of the critically acclaimed film by renowned director Michael Haneke, who won Cannes Palme D’or last year, his second in three years.
Francophone Cinema Week (La Semaine du Cinéma Francophone) is a collaboration between Katara DFI Cinema and the French Embassy/Institut Français du Qatar, with the support of the embassies of Belgium, Canada and Switzerland.
Bringing the best of contemporary cinema from the French-speaking world to film lovers in Doha, the event will run until March 13 at Katara Drama Theatre, building 16. It will close with the worldwide box-office hit film The Intouchables directed by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano.
All films in the programme will be subtitled in Arabic and English.
